These handcrafted shawls are sourced from the finest natural materials produced by a unique breed of mountain goats called “Capra Hircus” from the Himalayan valleys. These wool, referred to as the ‘soft gold’ is from the neck and the under belly of these goats that are shed regularly after the winter months. There are communities living high up in the valleys, herd these goats for their living. They harvest the wool, meticulously clean, carefully spun into yarn and then the artisans create the vibrant colours and designs for the weaving process before the final production arrive in the market. This weaving processes take several months for each design and some designs are repeated on different colours while there are some unique designs that reflect their higher pricing.
